Makarios Tabor

MSW, LISW-CP, CACI

Makarios believes in the transformative power of cultivating connections—with ourselves, with other people, and with the world around us. He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who provides therapy for couples, adult individuals, and groups.

In his work with couples, he uses the Gottman Method to help partners deepen their friendship, manage conflict effectively, and create shared meaning and purpose. As a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, he provides premarital counseling to help couples explore strength and growth areas, understand personality differences, and maximize teamwork.

With individuals, he primarily uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on clarifying one’s values and using mindfulness to maximize one’s potential for a rich, full, and meaningful life.

Makarios also has extensive experience facilitating interpersonal process groups. In such groups, the focus is on “here and now” experiences of the group members, thereby providing participants with the opportunity to find new ways to relate to themselves and others in a safe, supportive environment.

Makarios has worked in both public and private sectors, including a community mental health center, a school of medicine, and a substance use disorder agency. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Northeastern University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina. He is also a Certified Addictions Counselor.

Makarios brings warmth, humor, acceptance, and compassion to the therapeutic process. For more information, visit MakariosTabor.com.
